SMH® Changes it's Corporate Name in the Americas

SMH® is pleased to announce that we are changing our corporate name in the Americas. We will no longer be known as Systems Material Handling Company (SMH®). As of January 1, 2012 our company name in the Americas will be TVH Parts Co, (TVH®). The change from SMH® to TVH® will help us assure that we are recognized around the world as one company.

TVH® is the leading distributor of quality replacement parts and accessories for US and world manufactured industrial vehicles. Founded in Belgium in 1969, TVH® and its TotalSource® brand, is represented throughout the world by over 2,630 employees serving customers in over 162 countries. Systems Material Handling Company (SMH®), acquired in 2003, represents TVH® in the Americas with over 700 employees operating out of nine facilities in the US, Canada, Mexico, and Brazil.

The Latin-American Customer Appreciation Conference 2011

TVH®, Olathe, Kansas welcomed 41 participants from all over Mexico and Latin America to this year’s Annual International Customer Appreciation Conference from October 4th to the 6th. The conference is the only program focused on economic, financial, industrial and administrative topics that also provides our customers the opportunity to network with distributors from other countries. It is also an important opportunity for us to show our appreciation for our customers continued business.

The conference consisted of three days filled with discussions and workshops specifically tailored to the customer’s needs, as well as networking opportunities and plenty of entertainment. Part of this year’s entertainment included dinner and wine tasting at the Caenen Castle hosted by Somerset Ridge Vineyard and Winery in Shawnee, Kansas; an awards banquet at Kansas City’s Fogo de Chao restaurant; and finally, a day touring the city where customers visited Union Station, The Liberty Memorial, The Kansas City Plaza, and finally, the Legends shopping plaza.

The topics that we focused on were: Review and Comparison of the Market, Inventory Administration, Offering Product Alternatives, Allied Parts & Accessories, the Newly Added Products, and New Technology as well as several hands-on IRMN® and Quick Source® workshops. It was a pleasure to share with all those present as well as to learn from everyone’s experiences and knowledge in the industry.

2011 Customer Survey Underway

The 2011 Annual Customer Satisfaction Survey was launched in early August, and we want to hear from you!

Over the last 5 years, TVH® has conducted an annual customer survey to gather feedback on overall performance and service levels. These responses allow us to tune in to our customer’s perception and to analyze the current obstacles being faced in this ever-changing industry by our most valuable asset, our customers. By identifying these obstacles and the areas for improvement within our organization, we hope to offer an improved level of service to our customers.

SMHU - Enroll Today For Summer & Fall Courses

SMHU was created to provide our customers a program to enhance their employees’ knowledge of new generation mechanical systems, emerging technologies and professional skills. Our vision is to be the leader in industry related training by offering not only the basic industry seminars, but modernized training seminars in emerging technologies. Available Training includes; The Electric Truck Seminar, The Parts Professional Seminar, The Spectrum Seminar, and the Train the Trainer Seminar.

During the Parts Professional Training, participants will experience hands on learning environment where they will study all areas of the forklift truck along with truck classifications and carriage classifications of the Industrial Truck Association. The training concludes with inventory training, and parts department management training. Attendees will have the opportunity to brainstorm with other attendees to create a strategic plan for improvement specific to their parts department.

Interested in a more Technical Training? Check out the Electric Truck Seminar or the Spectrum Seminar. The Electric Truck Seminar covers basic electric circuits and components found on all types of electric vehicles. The seminar also incorporates training on motor controls and SCR controls for electric vehicles. The seminar concludes with sessions that focus on troubleshooting exercises over SCR & A.C. transistor motor controls.

The Spectrum Seminar is now specific to both Tier II and Tier III Spectrum Fuel Systems. During the training, attendees will participate in Spectrum systems components and operation tools training and learn information about the diagnostics and Spectrum software display screens. Attendees will also train on a live running engine and will be instructed on EPA and CARB legislation specific to Spectrum.

If you’re looking to increase your Sales, the Train the Trainer Seminar might be the Training for you. This seminar includes training on the Fleet Manager program. You will receive information to participate in the program, while also learning effective training skills on how to instruct your Fleet Managers more efficiently. The fleet manager program helps to lock-in customer purchases for your company through a signed three-year contract. The seminar also includes in-depth training on IRMN.
